Los Islotes
Today we spent the morning at a different unnamed beach on Espiritu Santo, which is where I took the picture in the post here. The white sand beaches are a great sight with the water temperature in the 70′s it’s hard not to appreciate your surroundings. The water has been pretty rough the last couple days, so we haven’t done much cruising. Cruising is when we see most of the wild life. Speaking of which, the last trip I was on we saw some false killer whales and I had no idea how rare they are. Usually when we see something the crew will pump things up so the guests think they are getting their moneys worth. I guess I’m too used to that, because tonight the naturalists on this boat were talking about them, and how they had been out here for 10 years and never seen them. They were pretty cool looking, just like orcas, but smaller and less white spots. I’m glad I was there for it.
After lunch we moved over to the popular snorkeling spot at Los Islotes, where the guests had a pretty good time swimming with the sea lions. Unfortunately we got into the first batch of Mexican gas in the Zodiacs and it gave us a fit. It seems we got some bad fuel, and the Zodiacs were running horribly. Hopefully we can score some better fuel tomorrow in Loreto. If not, this will be an interesting couple of days ahead of us. Luckily we are scheduled to cruise most of the day anyways, and hopefully we will see some more of those false killer whales!
