Just got back from Costa Rica

Well, as I said before, my ship the National Geographic Sea Lion has been switched over to spending the winter months in Costa Rica and Panama. I’ve officially handed over the keys to my replacement on that boat and am headed for the Chief Position on it’s sister ship, the National Geographic Sea Bird. I’m kinda sad to see it going on with out me, but the move is a better deal for me.

I did get to see a little bit of Costa Rica once I positioned down there and what I saw made me want to go back for more. The jungles and crazy four wheel drive roads are just the kind of thing I really like to see, so I will be heading back. It’s really just defining my goal of driving down to the Darien Jungle and back at some point in the future. I’m making contacts now and getting a good perspective of what I may come in contact with on the way south.

The biggest set back for me is still the language. I’m learning spanish little by little, but it’s coming along slower than I had hoped. Hopefully my next rotation down in Baja will help me along a little bit.

For now, I’ll just give you some great pictures of the things I did get to see down south.
