Where I work

Getting ready to drop the hook, Ensenada Grande, Baja
In my bio page I talked a little bit about where I work, but I’d like to talk a bit more about that here. I work on the National Geographic Sea Bird, a 152 foot cruise ship owned and operated by Lindblad Expeditions. Lindblad has a partnership with the travel side of National Geographic, we do all of the water based activities that they offer to people through there organization. This is a great deal for both companies, because we are good at what we do, and they are good at what they do.
The ship that I work on, the Nat Geo Sea Bird, has several itineraries, but for the most part we spend the summer in south east Alaska and the winter in the southern portions of the the Baja California peninsula.

Currently, I am an Engineer on board the ship, and have been for about a year and a half now. This is a great position for me, for a couple of reasons. I enjoy fixing things and the high stress situations that it puts me in. I like to perform under pressure. I also like it because of the schedule, which allows me to have half the year off of work. I spend half the year traveling with the ship, and the other half traveling with the kids. It’s a great deal for me.
